FAQs

Below is a run down of everything you need to know from start to finish for our photoshoots.

What areas do you cover?

I am located in Lancashire, right on the border with North and West Yorkshire giving me access to some beautiful locations. I cover any destination within a 30-minute drive of my BB8 postcode including Colne, Burnley, Barrowford, Barnoldswick, Clitheroe, Preston, Skipton, Silsden and Ilkley. Travel within 30-minutes of BB8 is included in your photography session. I am happy to discuss travelling further afield to suit your requirements - a small charge for additional travel will be disussed upon enquiry.

When is the best time to have my baby photographed?

Babies grow quickly and are ever-changing and I love to capture images of them no matter what age. Photo shoots are possible at any age, however, from experience the following ages are the best times in order to get the most out of your session.

1-2 weeks | Newborn photo shoots are ideally done 1-2 weeks after birth. This enables me to capture your baby at their tiniest and is also when they are most settled.

6-8 months | At this age babies can usually sit up by themselves, roll, smile and giggle. This is a lovely time to have a photo shoot as I can capture a lot of personality they interact with the camera well.

12-16 months | By now baby will be walking, perhaps a bit wobbly, but that all adds to the charm of the images.

Do you have a studio?

None of my sessions are done in a studio as I shoot in natural-light. My sessions are done on-location either at your home for newborn or baby sessions, or an outdoor location. That could be anywhere special for you and your family, or if you need some inspiration, click here to view the locations I've used previously.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes I do. Please get in touch with your details and I'll happily send you further information.

What happens if it rains on the day of the photo shoot?

This is the one and only negative to outdoor photography. I keep a close eye on the forecast as we approach your photo shoot and will of course keep you up to date with any concerns I have. If the weather is particularly poor on the day of your photo shoot and I decide it is unsuitable, then of course we will reschedule free of charge. Usually it's just pouring rain that means we have to reschedule, which surprisingly doesn't happen very often.I have done sessions in snow, drizzle and cold and got some wonderful results so please don't panic if isn't wall to wall sunshine.

What if my child is poorly on the day of the photo shoot?

I completely understand that children get poorly and often this happens without warning. If your child isn't feeling well on the day of the session then I am more than happy to reschedule to another suitable date. As much warning as possible is appreciated, even if it's just to warn me that you may need to cancel. I want to take the best images I can for you so would much rather your child was on top form for the shoot.

What can I do to prepare for the photo shoot?

The best advice I can give you is to relax and be yourselves. Once you have booked your session I will give you access to my online client area where you will find information on what to expect, how to make the most of your photo shoot and what to wear. We will also chat over the phone or email to go through any questions you may have and finalise the details.

What shall we wear?

Once you have booked your session with me I will give you access to my online client area which includes a guide on what to wear for your photo shoot.

How long will the session last?

Each photo shoot is different and my timeframes are a guide as I don't work to a super strict time limit. Children's sessions tend to last 45-60 minutes and family sessions up to 1.5 hours. For newborn sessions I advise setting aside 2-3 hours to allow for feeding and soothing time. For more information on each session, please see my Pricing Page.

I'm concerned my children will misbehave during the shoot!

Don't worry. Outdoor photography lends itself extremely well to children. They can run around, shout, play and be themselves without feeling pressured. During our phone or email conversation I will find out about your children, their likes and dislikes, so that I can make them feel as comforable as possible during the shoot.

When and how will I get my images?

I take a lot of care when it comes to selecting and editing your images to make sure you get the best photos possible. This process can take up to 2 weeks. Once editing is complete I will send you a link and password to access your online gallery. From here you can download and share your images with friends and family.

How many images can we expect? Can we choose the ones we want?

The amount of images included depends on the package you have purchased. Children's sessions include 12-15, family and newborn sessions include 15-20.

As a photographer I take great pride in my finished work and only provide the final, edited images. I take hundreds of images at each photo shoot so it isn't possible for me to edit them all for you to choose from. During my selection process I do take into consideration your preferences and any images you wanted to capture during the session, as well as selecting a mix of images to give you a varied gallery.

What format will the images be in?

My packages include digital images only which will be provided as print ready JPegs. My post photo shoot communication will include some direction on where to print and how to display your images. If you need any further help with this I am more than happy to advise.
